Jack's Bio
Jack Eden - Gardening Expert

A resident of suburban Washington, D.C., Jack Eden has devoted some 35 years communicating vital information on horticulture and agronomic subjects for consumers. His wealth of knowledge in solving day-to-day plant and garden problems has filled the pages of daily newspapers in the nation’s capital and airwaves of radio stations across much of the nation.

Jack launched his broadcasting career in Westchester County, N.,Y., in the spring of 1972, adding Washington D.C. the following year. He served as garden columnist and editor of the Washington Star from 1976 until it ceased publication in 1979. From 1980 to 1996, he wrote weekly columns first for the Washington Times, then the Washington Post. Over the past 25 years, his garden reports have aired on many radio stations in Albany, Buffalo and Syracuse, N.Y., Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Wheeling, W. Va., and Toronto, Canada. An hour-long television program devoted to gardening aired from 1995 to 1997 in many cities across the nation. Since 2000, Jack has taught consumer horticulture to adults at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va., under the aegis of the Christopher Wren Association.

In 1978, Jack wrote the book, “The Garden of Eden.” That book evolved into the popular “Jack Eden’s Garden Guide,” a year-long calendar of weekly reminders and exhaustive data sheets on a multiplicity of horticultural subjects.

Jack is married to the former Patricia Wohlever, and has two children: Jill Burns of Mesa, Arizona, and Scott of Williamsburg, Va.
